About the Artist

Creating has always been a part of my life.

I have been drawing, painting, sewing and creating for as long as I can remember. My mother likes to tell the story of when I was 4, she asked me what I was going to do that day. My answer was "sew". As a second grader, I can remember a teacher that decorated an entire bulletin board with my handmade paper dolls and their clothes. As a high schooler I was thrilled to have my design chosen to be the poster and cover design of the school play (until I realized that meant I had to do all the silk screening of them myself...). As a young Mom I started holiday craft shows to help with the growing costs of Christmas, leading me to start my own craft business.

I began my business, Dawn’s Designs, in 2003 - hoping to mix my own artwork with practical items. A notepad, calendar, shopping list or gift wrap are things everyone can use. And if they are decorated with my original watercolor and ink illustrations, all the better. My Dawn’s Design team consists of myself as ideas and creative, and my husband Gene as supporter, facilitator, packaging and shipping.

The many snowmen evolved over time - I had made calendars a few years before I had the idea of a full calendar devoted to snowmen. And the many other snowmen notepads and book have evolved from the snowman calendar. They are whimsical and fun - mischievous and entertaining! I had no idea when I started making them that people collected snowmen, and they would be such a huge hit!

The other calendars I offer represent a variety of lifestyles. A refrigerator planner for organizing and ease, a mouse pad calendar for those who are always close to their computer, a snowman wall calendar just for the enjoyment of whimsical garden art, and a perpetual calendar to remind us of our birthdays and anniversaries all year.
